Last name change possible with marriage license for bride and groom?
I know states differ in rules, but generally?
I know the bride can change her last name with the license and groom can change to brides, but what if we’re both planning to change our last name? Do I have to legally change my last name first before we get married? Or is the name we put on the marriage license legal?

When you apply for a marriage license you have to use the name that is on your drivers license and Social Security card. To do anything else is fraud.
If you dont want to use either your maiden name or his last name after you get married then you will have to apply to change your name.
Each of you will have to file papers, and pay a fee. In some states, the fee is dependent on the length of the new name; per letter in some places.
Now, you could save some money and change one of your last names the legal way BEFORE the wedding, and then other other could change to that name AFTER you’re married.
